On June 2nd, 1968 the first Antiques’ Fair was organized in Piazza Grande thanks to Mr. Ivan Bruschi, Arezzo’s most important antiquarian. Since then a great number of similar events were established all over the country, but Arezzo’s Fiera Antiquaria is still the oldest and the largest antiques’ fair in Italy. On the first Sunday of each month, and previous Saturday, over 500 merchants come and show their most various goods in the streets of Arezzo’s historical centre: it really is a colourful and picturesque mess! Refined antique shops run by collectors and competent antiquarians are open all day long. You should not miss Casa Museo di Ivan Bruschi which is a 14th c. building, just in front of the beautiful Romanesque façade of the Pieve: it was Mr. Bruschi’s house in which he collected thousands of pieces ranging from 6th c. B.C. Etruscan urns to modern Asian masks: everything echoes his taste and his intellectual curiosity. Unforgettable view of Arezzo from the top of the building!
Try not to miss that!
